THE ALCHEMIST BY PAULO COELHO NOVEL SUMMARY
The Story of Paulo Coelho’s Alchemist begins with Santiago, a shepherd boy who took an adventure journey in a quest of unknown treasure from his homeland Spain to the Egyptian desert by following his fantasy dream.
On his way to journey, he met with several people including, a fortune-teller named Gypsy. She tells the boy that you will get the treasures which you always saw in your dream.
After meeting with the fortune-teller, he met with the old king named Melchizedek, or the king of Salem, who tells the boy to sell his sheep in exchange for money. So he can continue his journey to Egypt, where the hidden treasure was hide under the pyramids.
Along the way to his journey, he was robbed many times by the people. He then met with an Englishmen who has also come in search of an Alchemist. He got a new companion on his way to the travel. It’s started when they reach the oasis, where Santiago meets an Arabian girl named Fatima, whom he proposed for marriage. She agreed but on the condition that he must complete the quest first.
Later, in sight of the pyramid, he was robbed again and received one of the valuable pieces of advice from the chief of thieves that your real treasure, which you were looking in the pyramid, was in the ruined church where you had a dream first.
The Brazilian author, Paulo Coelho is one of the most renounced authors of the 20th and 21st century had written a famous novel named the Alchemist in 1988, first written in the Portuguese language, gained popularity among the audience, and count among the top 10 best selling novels of the New York Times.
